Quiz: Are You a Certified Cat Obsessed Human? 8 Signs to Look For

by MintiClothing 03 Jul 2026

Cat obsessed person surrounded by cat-themed items

You talk to your cat more than most humans. Your camera roll is 90% feline. You've canceled plans because "the cat looked comfortable on my lap." If any of this sounds familiar, you might be wondering: just how deep does this go? Welcome to the definitive cat person test. Below are 8 unmistakable signs you love cats to a degree that might qualify you as certifiably, wonderfully, hopelessly cat-obsessed. Keep score — if you check 5 or more, congratulations: you're one of us.

Sign 1: Your Camera Roll Tells the Story

Open your phone photos right now. Count the cat pictures. If felines outnumber humans, food, sunsets, and selfies combined — you've already earned your first point. An obsessed cat lover has documented every sleeping position, every sunbeam moment, and every inexplicable face their cat has ever made. You don't just have cat photos. You have cat archives.

Sign 2: You've Developed a Full Cat Vocabulary

You know the difference between the "feed me" meow, the "where have you been" meow, and the "I see a bird" chirp. You've assigned your cat a rotating series of nicknames that bear no resemblance to their actual name. At this point, your cat responds to approximately zero of them, but you persist because each nickname captures a different mood. This is advanced cat person territory and you're deep in it.

Sign 3: Your Home Decor Accommodates the Cat

Cat tree in the living room? Normal. Cat shelves mounted on the wall? Getting warmer. Furniture placement dictated by optimal sunbeam access for the cat? You're officially in the zone. The cat person test gets real when you realize you chose your couch color to hide cat hair and your rug pattern to camouflage the occasional hairball incident.

Sign 4: You Cancel Plans Citing "Cat Reasons"

"Sorry, I can't make it — the cat fell asleep on my lap." This is a completely valid and socially acceptable excuse in your world. You've left parties early, skipped brunches, and rescheduled meetings because your cat was being particularly adorable. Non-cat people don't understand. Cat people don't need an explanation.

Sign 5: You Have Cat Merch in Every Category

Cat socks. Cat mug. Cat phone case. Cat calendar. Cat t-shirt (multiple). Cat tote bag. Cat earrings. Cat pajamas. If there's a version with a cat on it, you either own it or have it saved in a shopping cart somewhere. This is peak obsessed cat lover behavior — the inability to pass up anything remotely feline-shaped.

Sign 6: You Know Stranger Cats by Name

There's a gray tabby on your street named Oliver. The bodega on 3rd has a tuxedo cat named Chairman Meow. Your neighbor's cat Sir Fluffington greets you at the mailbox. You know more neighborhood cats than human neighbors. When you walk down the street, you greet the cats before the people — and honestly, the cats are better company.

Sign 7: Social Media Follows: 80% Cats

Scroll through your Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube subscriptions. If cats, cat rescuers, and cat meme accounts dominate your feed, this is one of the clearest signs you love cats. You follow cats you've never met in cities you've never visited. You have opinions about which cat influencers are overrated versus underrated.

Sign 8: You Don't Own the Cat — the Cat Owns You

This is the ultimate sign. When someone asks who runs your household and your answer involves a four-pound creature who doesn't pay rent, you've reached cat-obsession nirvana. You've accepted that your schedule operates on cat time, that your bed belongs to the cat, and that you are, essentially, beloved staff.

Your Score: How Cat-Obsessed Are You?

0–2 signs: You appreciate cats from a healthy distance. 3–4 signs: You're a cat lover with room to grow. 5–7 signs: Welcome to the club — you're officially cat-obsessed. 8 signs: You are the cat person your friends text when they have cat questions. Wear it proudly.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
